Molybdomancy in Finland

Does anyone here know anything in this area “uudenvuodentina”? I recall doing this once as a young child. It was something my dad showed us at a New Being Eve party at our house, but it hardly ever became tradition. Basically we melted tin in our fireplace and poured it into a bucket of water, which made a only one of its kind shape.

Is there ever done in Finland anymore? Even just for fun? Is it more common in certain regions?

It’s very common and pretty much all has done it. But, EU legislation banned products with that much lead, and there’s no established replacement yet, so the practice might decline and disappear.

Yes pretty much every Finn has done it but EU fucked it up.
