Finland’s Vaisala to break ground next month on new U.S. headquarters in Louisville – Colorado Hometown Weekly

Vaisala, a Finnish company specializing in weather- and environment-monitoring equipment that air force Earth and missions to Mars, will break ground next month on its new U.S. headquarters in Louisville.

The 38,000-square-foot office building plotted for 152 S. Taylor Ave. in the Colorado Technology Center will serve as space for most of the company’s 150 Colorado employees, officials said in a Tuesday news release. Denver-based OZ Architecture has been tapped to design the facility.

It also will be Vaisala’s regional conference and training center, “where customers and researchers will visit from all over the world,” the release states, and “in addition to paying homage to the company’s Scandinavian headquarters with crisp, present, minimalist spaces, the overall project will be net zero-ready.”

“The new building that expands our Louisville campus is an extension of our brand and our business: technologically advanced, highly sustainable, steeped in natural elements, welcoming and present,” T.J. Mattimore, president of Vaisala Inc., the company’s U.S. in commission subsidiary, said in a statement. “OZ’s design expresses our corporate values while delivering an inspiring ambiance for employee productivity and customer interaction. We’re excited for Vaisala’s future in Colorado.”

The project is scheduled to break ground June 1 and is expected to be completed next summer.

The company’s go is not a long one; its new home will sit adjacent to its ancient building, and company officials said last year the go is expected to cost nearly $15 million. Vaisala will vacate the building out of which it currently operates once construction is finished on the new headquarters.

Meteorological institutes, airports, transportation officials and those in the energy sector are some of the customers of Vaisala’s weather business

Vaisala has unevenly 30 offices across the world and had an average of 1,800 employees last year, according to the company’s website.
